Any input on this .17 HMR will be greatly appreciated. I may have to change my handle since it don't kick.
Being me---I'm going to have to be able to tinker around with it if possible.
Recommended scopes? Sling, Case, Hottest ammo it can shoot. Is Remmington Fireball safe?

You wont be disappointed with the accutrigger and .17 HMR combo. I got the short straw and got stuck with a bull barrel 17 with a tougher trigger and she could still hold sub 1.5" groups at 200yds.

I have a Mueller 25x44mm AO mil dot scope on it at the moment and I always work with a 100yd zero when shooting out to 200 and 300yds. The simple mil hold off works well.
The Bushnell Banner line of scopes are also trusted to keep the zero. I was initially recommended them, but went with the Mueller mil dot.

I initially had problems with the firing pin actually making the rounds go off because the bolt hadnt been worn in, so...its normal, just dry fire a little.

The basic 17gr Hornady ammo always worked for me, there are more ballistics charts on it too.

I bought the same rifle for my father a couple of years ago, and he loves it. I have no idea how many crows he has whacked with it, but probably a hundrded or more. As far as ammo, its best to try the different wieghts to see what yours is going to shoot best with. If I'm not mistaken, CCI makes all of the 17 HMR ammo, so you may not see much difference from brand to brand in the same bullet weight. And lastly, the 17 Rem. Fireball is a centerfire cartridge, completely different than what your rifle is chambered for.

Well with good glass, you should not have to try all to hard to get .5'' at 100yrd. very accurate rifle and savage customer service is awesome, sent me new parts for bolt free just to try out a problem, but it worked. Very happy.
