Good or bad for a cheap but reliable first time shotgun? What's your thoughts?

How about a H&R Pardner Protector 12 gauge?

Bought one last week, I'll let you know when I get a chance to shoot it. I bought it as a barn gun, and also I couldn't find an Ithaca 37 for the price:p

I bought the Savage 350 with the ghost ring and rifle sights it came with a 28" ribbed barrel bead sight also.

As soon as my ribs heal, I'll let you know how I like it

BTW, the ribs aren't from the Savage:cool:

Grab it, I've not seen Maverick under $215.

I bought the 350 because of the the sights on it, the 28" bbl was just icing on the cake

So I grabbed the Mossberg Maverick 18.5" barrel.

I guess now would be to ask what kind of ammo would you suggest? (Primarily for HD)

I use #4 for my HD gun (Benelli M3 super 90)

Congrats on the purchase

The 350 is a barn gun so I just keep it loaded with #7 1/2

edit: still haven't shot it yet:mad:

Report

OK, I said I would do a report on the Savage 350
Sorry it took so long, stoved in ribs and stuff,
Not shoeing that horse again…..

The finish of the Savage 350 is pretty good, the one I bought was a wanna be parkarized…nuff said. I really like the Ghost ring on it, it does work.

TBH, it really is smaller than it really looks.

The 28” barrel is a plus , got it for free (I’ll ask my wife if she likes it for birds , when she uses it)

I’m 6+ foot and it fits me well, my wife at 5”4 she doesn’t like it, she can’t fit it well

Just so you know, I’ve had it in my barn locker since I’ve bought it (3 months ago) no problems with the finish (It's going into my scabbard Monday)

It handle similar to my Ithaca 37, same, same, (other than the parts are NOT compatible)

It’s a bit of a (female dog) with slugs, but with #4 buck she’s a sweety (WoW)

POA is -2” At 50 yards with slugs and, -1/2 with #4, the spread is the same as my Ithaca

All in All ……I’m liking this Savage, I’m retiring my 37 Deer slayer

Im looking for a NEW SD shotgun myself. I really dont trust MY NEF 870 clone. It is just to jam prone. Lots of fun for taking outback and shooting with friends. (I cant believe the recoil for such a HEAVY gun).
I'm looking into a New Winchester 1300 little over $300, the New Stevens HD 12 ga, and the Weatherby HD shotgun all are in or a little over the $200-300 dollar mark.

norinco

both guns are made at norinco in china. I love my NEF Pardner pump. I have two of them. One in 20, and one in camo 12 for turkey.
