Savage 16 FCSS

I have talked myself into getting a new rifle. It wasn't hard to do. Anyway I have settled on 7mm 08 caliber and am leaning toward the Savage 16 FCSS. Do any of you have this model? I have read much about it and really like the idea of the accustock. I don't particularly care for the look of synthetic stocks but the idea is growing on me. Years back I bought my son a youth model savage in 243 and loaded for it and it was very accurate.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm getting ready to purchase the same exact rifle in .308. I've had a couple of Savages, never with an Accustock so I'm excited to see how I like it. Everything I've seen or heard about this particular model has been extremely positive.

For anyone that has one, does it have the extra bolt for the Accuwedge? I've heard reports that savage came out with a Accustock 2.0 without the wedge as it could possibly create accuracy issues, not sure which models have it or not.

I have had a Savage 116 (long action) FHSS (hinged floor plate) for several years. Certainly no beauty queen, but accurate and reliable. Very rugged. Watch the stock screws. Keep them properly torqued, as mine have loosened on occasion during long range sessions. Not good for groups.

I have a Savage Model 16 FCSS in 6.5 Creedmoor. It is a great hunting rifle. The accustock isn't pretty, but if you want you can get a Boyd's stock for it.

What Geo said. I have two Savages and would not trade them for anything. The Accutrigger is really great and as to the synthetic stocks they make more sense for a hunting rifle than a wood one, less likely to get nicked up or crack and do not swell from moisture, actually a good stock for hunting.
