no but....
I have its predecessor, the 10 Scout, with standard trigger and the side released box mag, .308 of course.
As a concept, I think there's a lot to be said for a short, handy, portable bolt rifle of ample power. The "scout" has its critics, usually due to the "scoutscope" , its sighting system, but scoped however one likes, the practicality of a tidy .308 is undeniable.
Now the rifle in the pic....?
Seems like Savage is trying to cash in on Ruger Gunsite's amd Moss MVP success.
I don't necessarily need an extended box mag, and would just as soon have seen it done with the blind magazine as found on the Hog Rifle, one less thing to loose (but not tacticool). Granted, a bit of hi-cap would let the rifle compete on that aspect with the Moss MVP and the Ruger, and I think that's the whole point.
The stock color turns me off , no desert pink near me. But again, desert guns are cool. The length of pull adjustments make sense, and a nod to the Ruger again. The adjustable comb? More gadgetry......what's the need with a low mounted scoutscope? And, if one has detachable optic, and wishes to switch to the back up irons, its conceivable that the comb would need adjusted back down also. Does that take a tool? Inconvenient. If not, its got knobs, and again, something to loose.
All that negativity, but I like my standard early Savage Scout, and this apparently new version will fill the same niche, with a bit more window dressing (and cost I bet). Make one with the OD Hog Rifle stock, and I'm in. If not, I'll keep my old one.
I wonder if the Savage build shop would consider that??????? Hmmmm??
