Savage 10fp question

110 fp

Not sure what the rate is, but mine shoots fine groups with 55gr FMJBT surplus stuff. Actually, also with 52gr match HP and 62gr M855.

Can't go wrong

I have a Savage 110 and it is about the most accurate out of the box gun I own among serveral other higher dollar guns.

10 FP/223 has a 9" twist, so you will be able to shoot all the way up to the the stubby shaped 77 grain Sierra MatchKing used by the military Unit Designated Marksman program. In a deburred Winchester case, seated to 2.260" COL, with Fed 205M primer, I have had good luck with 25 grains of W748 under that bullet. Just don't expect the best results from the heavier VLD shapes.

savage 12

where nightmares fear to tread; I spotted a heavy barrel model 12, 223, at the locaL bass pro shop for 519. anyhow, after shooting some light loads over 748 it decided it wasn't going to chamber anything any more. nada...grrrr
so customer service said it was a scope base screw . the bolt would close on an empty chamber, but not on a loaded one. I guess customer service didn't catch that little fact. so I guess its back to the factory. any input would be appreciated; maybe we can beat customer service at its own game. and the brass was all well trimmed back 223 ammo. some fractory also. same thing.

Just not to miss the obvious, did you try chambering an empty case? Did you make sure you didn't extract a primer-only fired case that got a bullet lodged in the throat?

Assuming it's not the obvious, pull the bolt and use a nail or some other probe to check that the extractor claw moves correctly? Something jammed in behind it could prevent it from snapping over the case head and into the extractor groove. If it does not move, I would ask them to let you send the bolt back by itself. That will save you a fortune in shipping costs and insurance.

grrrrrrr

its packed for shipping, but I can sure take it out of the box; that could be the problem. when I first took it too the range, I had no problems, then it just quit. i could close the bolt on an empty chamber, but not on a factory remington rnd. I think its in the bolt, so we'll see. thanks for the input fella's.
