My new Savage 10FP seems to shoot rather large groups when it is clean, and after about 10-15 rounds, the groups get smaller and smaller. Anybody else ever seen this in a gun? My Howa 1500 Lightning is exactly the opposite. Strange?
Have you ever slugged the barrel to make sure it is within the caliber specs for the round. It may be tightening up a very tiny bit from the copper and powder fouling and making the bore tighter.
I have heard similar tales from Ruger rifle owners. I was told that Ruger's barrels are slightly oversized and a little fouling makes them shoot better.
I do not know if any of this is fact, but it is what I've heard from a few Ruger shooters.
Mesa, not to worry, even the VERY best barrels can and often do the same thing...........every barrel is like a human being, no two are alike.........
Find out what she likes, and feed it to her!!!!!
