They nailed it (not that they are gun friendly):

1. Bill does nothing to control violence.
2. The provisions are stupid
3. It's a PR move as the items really wanted were replaced by platitudes. For example, it will be against the law to shoot two guns at the same time. NICS will ask if you are a nice guy.
4. The actor playing Obama comments that he thanks Toomey and Manchin as they will lose their jobs.

Funny.

Yes, I watched specifically to see if they might do something, and at the end of the day it was pretty good.

It did sort of confirm that people realize this Bill will do nothing to reduce violence, but still want it to pass. It proves that this is nothing but punitive action to hurt gun owners and discourage more people from getting into the sport. It boils down to people who don’t want guns themselves and see no reason for other people to have them either.

I just hope it will ring true that Toomey and Manchin will be out of office come next election.

I just hope more people realize how bills such as this one will do no good, but will do harm to the right to own firearms legally for whatever reason.

Yes, I would hope the same, but things often don’t work out the way we believe they should. For instance Toomey will most likely face someone in the general election who is much more anti-gun, so even after this he may end up being the better candidate.

that's always true, but I hope that our friends in WV can find a better, pro-gun candidate that would be as, or more electable then Manchin.

Papa John's, Florida...

The Papa John's joke was funny but the Florida jokes are a bit stale.
Florida is lax on a few things but other states are FAR more loose! ;)

At first I considered it a political issue or legal concern but as time goes by, I think $$$ is a bigger factor.
To renew a license or permit every 2/3 years requires more staff, offices, supplies, etc. To make it 5 years or 7 years(as Florida did 2 years ago) saves $$$ & time for govt employees.

I watched it too (last night on Hulu...SNL is on after my bedtime :D). When the actor playing Obama talked about gun control, I got the remote out and ready to change the channel. Instead, I found it to be spot on. Though, they seem to be arguing from the other side (as in, the bill in it's current form isn't strict enough to make a difference, whereas our side is, any extra gun control is too strict). But the satire really did hit the nail on the head.

The real point with the recent gun "safety" issues...

I've learned from all this gun control or gun "safety" mess is that many federal level elected officials know that these anti-assault rifle & anti-extended firearm magazine laws are not really going to pass but they want a vote to show they did it.
That way when any parent or activist or media reporter asks them what they did about gun violence, they can honestly say; "hey, I voted for these new measures, but it just didnt go through."
Even POTUS Obama backed away from really strict laws and made it more about 1 vote(showing support for crime victims or their family members).

I say the ATF & other cops/prosecutors should enforce the gun laws they already have.
