I picked one up last year for $240 shipped to my FFL. I would describe the SAR9 as a Glock slide on an H&K VP9 frame. Mine came with 2 17-round mags and the 3-dot sights glow in the dark after exposure to light. It's very comfortable to shoot, and mine came with several different backstraps and palm-swells to customize the grip. My SAR9 has been 100% reliable so far.
The only real downside is that extra magazines are pricey (around $40) and can be difficult to find. It probably isn't as well-machined and constructed as a Glock or Walther, but it's much better than a comparably-priced Taurus. The SAR9 is probably the best $300 gun on the market, but you can do better if you're willing to spend $500-$600.
