The M96 has a mechanical problem that the manufacture has not been able to address. The triggers are breaking on the inside of the receiver, right at the pivot point. They claim that it is user error and caused by cycling the bolt with the safety on. I just think that a battle rifle should work flawlessly in any condition (including any operator errors) and not break.
I've not seen breaking triggers before... not on the M96.
Where did you learn of this as a problem?
Maybe you got some heresay and rumor about 1 case... I've handled 3 of them and they all shot great... the owners have never mentioned any such problems to me.
I'm on there speed dials so if they had an issue - I'ld have heard about it.
seen two broken rifles and one that I did . The company acknowledges the engineering flaw and will fix the problem free of charge. Very nice people to work with and they even explained how it happens. I called to order the part and install it. They insisted on fixing it. It's a great rifle and was going to use one at my shooting competition when it broke. Didn't even know what happened. I racked the bolt and it would not fire.
Keep in mind also that I'm the one calling it a flaw. They say, "Efforts to manually cycle the M96 after dry firing with the selector in the safe position may damage the fire control components. Don't hammer on the charging handle!". Therefore normal and OK.
It's not a serious problem (I can live with it) and would still consider purchasing one. They are that good and judging from the service received so far, good customer service. I just think that it is something a consumer considering a purchase like this should know.

Well, I'm a big M-14 fan, but even it can be damaged if someone tries to put the safety on when the hammer isn't cocked. I'm sure there's a way to damage any battle rifle if you're so inclined...however, it may still be a very good rifle.
