SAR-8 HBCSR

I purchased a Sar-8 HBCSR (heavy barrel counter sniper rifle) back in the 1990s. It is a Springfield Armory Hk91 clone (sar-8) fitted with a heavy sniper barrel and a PSG style stock. Only about 500 were let into the country from Greece before the 94 ban took effect. Does anybody else own this gun? If you own it have you interchanged Hk stock, trigger group like I have and how does it shoot? What value does this safe queen have? Any input would be helpful as there is very little info on the internet about this exotic. thanks guys!!:o:o

A used one sold in January on Gunbroker for $1750 and it had its barrel threaded to accept a flash suppressor. And I have seen them offered from 4-5k new to like new with no buyers. I believe that in order to legally convert the SAR8 HBCSR to a pistol grip configuration you still need to abide by the no more than 10 imported parts rule. Check out this post:

USA made stock; grip; forearm; and a thermold magazine(3 parts) gets you 6 USA parts. But I personally would get USA internals so I could use my German mags.

If you guys are thinking of selling your thumbhole stocks, let me know.

I had toyed with the idea of getting one of these when I got my SAR-48HB back in the 80s. The 3rd choice was the M1A. Never found one, but as I remember back then, they were calling it SAR-3, doubtless because of the German designation G3, much like their SAR-48 was for America's military designation of T48 for the FN-FAL. When it changed to SAR-8, I obviously never heard.
