A friend wanting advice has a chance to buy a Springfield SAR-48 FAL. I have not seen the weapon and am not familiar with it. The potential seller claims it is a preban model and has a "flashhider", but my friend's description of the "flashhider" sounds more like a muzzle brake, i.e. several holes facing forward rather than long flutes like an M1A flashhider or those on other preban FAL's I've seen. Is this the device that was originally installed on the SAR 48? Is this a true flashhider? Is this device removable and can a different flashhider be installed, or is it permanently installed? Thanks for the help.
