"SAND"bags

I started another thread about sandbag testing. It led to discussion of what to put in the sandbag.

What I have found to be perfect is empty shot bags (or small bank bags) and KITTY LITTER.

Very light and easy to carry.

About twenty years ago, I got hold of a yard or so of heavy artificial upholstery suede. Made it up into bags, about 6x8 inches, and filled them about 7/8ths full with uncooked NAVY beans. I was tired of canvas sandbags sifting the finer particles of grit into my guns with every shot (as I suspect kitty litter, which is just clay chunks, may also do eventually.)
The 'suede' bean bags have proven to be durable and practical. I was a bit afraid that the beans might attract moisture and spoil somehow, but that hasn't happened. The consistency of the bags is firm, but adjustable, so you can really settle a firearm into them. I use them to shoot handguns and rifles, and no machine rest would be better.

If they take our guns, I intend to let my hair grow long and acquire the jawbone of an ass.

I grind up liberal's and stuff'em in my "sand" bags.

ALL U LIBERALS!!!

Gold dust! I use it in all my sand bags. Its a tad heavy but a very solid rest.

And very fitting when sighting in a Sig.

Just one big rock in each bag...

LOL

Seriously - the advantage sandbags give you is only when your using a lot of them.
One sand bag aint crap.
100 sandbags and some propper digging gives you a temporary fighting position.

I use rice and use heat sealed industrial polybag as "innerbag" and denim "outterbag". Not too heavy and no "dust". I usually use several bags if different size. Works for me :)

I have been using my "used" crushed walnut tumbling media. It is really light weight and pretty firm. I made the bags out of lightweight denim. Tie it shut with a camle tie, never had one come open. I would love to have shotbags but I don't load shotgun (yet).

I am STILL laughing at that grinning finger flipping icon you posted. Man thats funny.

TheFederalistWeasel,

Hilarious...I even sent this thread to a friend so he could see it.
