Sales Tax On Internet Purchase?

If I buy a pistol from an online broker and have it shipped to my local FFL, do I have to pay local sales tax? Logic would say no, but I know logic has nothing to do with it.

Thanks

You're supposed to pay sales tax to your state on any mail order or Internet purchase. You may opt to not pay tax on the bulk of the purchase, that's yor perogative.

The only thing the local FFL should be able to tax you for is any services he's rendered on this deal.

My last interstate firearms purchase, there were no taxes involved. $30 for shipping and $20 for the FFL transfer, but no taxes.

you supposed to tally up all the stuff you bought from out of state, and then calculate the sales tax and then write a check to your state and pay them yourself.

"use tax"

but if you do that, then you must be crazy as they would NEVER know anyway. Its giving money away to the govt for no reason.

(this is NY)

Had my txes preparred today and was asked the normal stupid question... "Have you bought anything over the internet and had it shipped into NY?" Answer yes and you are supposed to pay taxes on it.

Luckily I would NEVER buy something over the internet....
