Sako TRG-S 338 Lapua - recoil, sound ??

Well I stepped UP!!! I have a Sako TRG-S in the 338 Lapua caliber.
My questions are mainly with regards to mods with recoil reduction and sound reduction as a goal.

Suggestions for:
Recoil reduction
muzzle brake
Noise reduction / Noise surpression

If anyone can provide input to sources and equipment to meet these goals, It would be greatly appreciated.

If your barrel is threaded (as it should be) you can get a muzzle brake from either Blaser or Sako. It makes a 338 Lapua (in the Blaser at least) kick like a 308. Blast is extensive becasue of the brake design.

I usually stock the brakes but may be out right now. Im so confused.

Mine had been rebarreled so the gunsmith threaded it to fit a J.P. Recoil Eliminator. I have been very pleased with the recoil reduction. Sound reduction is another thing as the brake does not help with that at all.

Have fun.

Sir:
Col. Art Alphin, owner of A-Square Arms, africal hunter, builder of the "big=Boys" the 416, the 470, etc. will not use a rifle with a muzzle-brake - and I do not either.
I've built 416 Taylors, 9.3X62 and 9.3X64 and none of them need or will ever have a "brake" on them.
They are disconcerting, load and totally not needed on this caliber rifle.
Your cartridge is a fine one!

Mr. Bonar, Badaboom asked a simple question about reducing some of the unpleasantness that the .338 Lapua Magnum is capable of producing.

Many people, myself included, like to use this cartridge for long range (read 1000 yds is the starting range) plinking. The TRG-S is a tad over eight pounds out of the box and not much fun to shoot from the prone position or over bags without some help.

Neither of us know at this point what purpose Badaboom intends using this rifle for. Perhaps one or two shots fired here and there in the hunting field or plinking away at 1 mile.

Badaboom, give Zak Smith a PM, he knows a bunch about sound reduction on the .338

Thanks all for the replies, maybe I need to be more specific. I intended to use the firearm
for large game hunting and for long range shooting in general I'm not really talking 600 yard
plus stuff but we will see. just a Shooter/Hunter

Found a reference for Zach Smith and sent PM

Appreciate it.
