Sako hunter stainless question

Shoot45's

New member
I'm about to get a Sako .308 Stainless Hunter, likely later this week, and my LGS has two but neither one has the two metal parts that are on the stock near the magazine on this photo.

http://www.eurooptic.com/sako-85-stainless-hunter-308-winchester.aspx

Stock is all wood there on both rifles they have.

Could somebody take a look and tell me if perhaps my gun store has an older version (it said Sako 85 on it), or if maybe EuroOptic is using a wrong photo.

They're both selling it for the same price.

Thanks for your help.

Those are there as stock reinforcement on magnum calibers. 7mm mag, 300 win mag, 338 win mag, etc.. You will not find those on something like a .308.

So your good to go! I had a 75 hunter in 7mm mag, wish I never got rid of it. They're great rifles, some of the best!

Echo,

Thanks a lot for your reply.
Excellent news.

Looks like EuroOptic is using the wrong picture on this caliber.

Thanks again

Sako's are great rifles....I picked up a used old Forester in .308 and a used Hunter stainless .243 for a song and they will never be for sale ! Check around you might find a good deal on a clean used one though a new one be sweet !

I have two Sako's...one old wood stocked in 222 Remington, and a synthetic stainless Model 75 in 30-06. The only thing I don't like about my 75 is the quick release lever for the magazine. When Sako's president went on an African safari some years back with his 75, he accidently tripped the mag release lever...subsequently the magazine dropped into a mudpuddle. He promised that he would rectify the problem --- and the Model 85 was born.
