Local collector sold me the Sako with B&L 2x8 scope and rings for $650. Going to the range tomorrow, been a safe queen for 25 years. Looks to be a conservative 95% rifle, any ammo recommendations? Thanks Doceaux.

Lucky you, the SAKO's of that period had excellent barrels.

Make sure you check the action screws for tightness.

As a target load, try 168 Match 47.0 grains IMR 4895 or 55.0 grains IMR 4350. Any case and any primer. Do no worry about seating to the lands as the 168 bullets are not jump sensitive, your OAL should be 3.30" or less.

If you want a hunting load, just substitute a 165 grain anything.

Those loads should be just around 2700 fps.
