Hey, I'm trying to dig up a little information on building a custom rifle on the old Sako action (see Building a Sweet Rifle below) and having some difficulty.
It seems the older actions have a Mauser-like bolt sleeve design and a Winchester like trigger. The next action had a different bolt sleeve and trigger but same design otherwise-- Can anyone confirm these are discontinued/unavailable? And the latest action the Sako 75 is described in the Brownells catalog...
The old book "Bolt Action Rifles" helped somewhat, and that's where I recomend you start-- it's somewhat limited by black and white pictures and I need some information on smithing the action such as whether or not it's fairly square, if any improvements could be made, and bedding tips, scope mounts for the "old" style guns...
For some strange reason, the old Sako stocks do not fit me at all... I'm hoping to do some light smithing on a worn barreled action and grow a stock on it that fits me perfectly...
Anyone else with more info???
