Now of COURSE I would love me an M1A, maybe even two, a Loaded and a Scout Squad or Socom model.... but they're crazy expensive. And I'd be so careful with it I'd not want to do anything with it because i'd be afraid to get a scratch or drop of oil or even make the action move internally lol.
The Saiga .308 could be a wonderfully fun and cheap alternative to say the Socom 16/Scout Squad M1A... You can make the Saiga look a bunch of different ways, you can put an Ultimak rail on it for an Aimpoint/Eotech sight up front for CQB, mount a real scope rail on it for a DMR application, put a full quad rail on it for an Aimpoint, an Angled Fore Grip, XTM Panels, and go to town (my personal idea sometimes) ... would make such an ideal high powered-caliber "ranch rifle" / "truck gun" etc.
And seriously, how can you go wrong for the price? You could seriously get the Saiga, DECK IT OUT with an Aimpoint or EOTech of your choice, a quad rail, fore grip, rail panel covers, and at LEAST a couple hundred rounds of ammo, for the same price as an M1A, probably you'd be CHEAPER or you'd get a ton of ammo... I know it's not an M1A but still!
