Safety on Mossberg 930 ?

Can anyone explain to me how the safety on the 930 SPX works?

How does the safety on the 930 affect the firing mechanism, ie does it simply inactivate or block the trigger? or does the safety physically make it impossible for the firing pin to go forward?

If it's fully loaded, is there a way for it to discharge with the safety on?

And, does "ghost loading" a 930 create a less safe condition?

Count: By fully loaded, do you mean with one in the chamber; whether or not it is ghost loaded (one on the carrier and a full magazine in addition to the one in the chamber).

One in the chamber too - so for 2¾ for example, seven rounds in the magazine, one in the chamber, and one round on the elevator.

It blocks the trigger, not the hammer:

I'm not familiar with the 930, although I really like the price and most owners give the new ones good reviews.

I'm guessing there is a firing pin in the bolt ?

If you have a loaded chamber and you drop it, is there anything that keeps that firing pin from striking the primer?

Nope. But, it's not as dangerous as it might seem, it's not like dropping an exposed hammer hand gun. Consider what happens if you drop the M-930: If it's dropped butt first, the impact will drive the firing pin away from the primer. To have the pin hit the primer, the gun would have to be dropped muzzle down. Actually, there's probably a greater chance of an accidental discharge because of the sear slipping. And, that can happen with or without the safety being engaged. Always keep a loaded gun pointed in a safe direction.
