safes

shooter, I have the golden rod in mine. So far no problem. As I just posted here earlier
Temp is 64* and Hum. is 34-35%. inside the safe. Don't know if there is a spec. for that, but thats where mine is at and I believe that is ok.

Hope this helps :)

Which would be better depends on your safe and where you keep your safe. If you buy a safe that has the precuts for the Golden Rod, and have a closet with an electrical outlet, I think the Golden Rod would be better. However, if you're not blessed with a prewired closet (and don't want to keep your safe out in the open), or if your safe doen't have cutouts for the wiring, the desicant works well.

My dad runs a dehumidifier in his basement and keeps a couple of bags of desicant inside the safe.

Most safes have a small hole at the back for the wiring. I took the plug off an extension cord, put the wire through and then put a new plug on.

Have run a GoldenRod in my vault for nine years--no rust on anything in safe. No silica gel to heat in oven to drive off moisture.

Why choose? Use both! Is it going to hurt anything?... No. Is it cost prohibited?... NO. Will they both compliment each other?... Yes. The Goldenrod will keep the inside temp of the safe higher then the outside and the Desicant will soak up any moisture. Get one of the Desicant "Can" that you can put in the oven and "recharge" with it has absorbed all the moisture it can.

Just my opinion but thats how I do it.

Anyone know who makes the Goldenron and where I can buy one for my gun safe? Thanks in advance
