Safe Size??

I am looking for a safe for my handguns and wondering what size to get. It would need to store as many as 7 guns ranging in size from a Ruger LCP to an N Frame SW with a 6" barrel. I keep the guns in rugs. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'd say the bigger the better, within reason. You never know when you might add a new toy to the collection :)

+1 sixer

Size does count  If you get a safe for your 7 guns.... & thats all that fits..... makes it hard if/when you get a couple more.

If I were you, I would get a medium size rifle safe, that way you can fit heaps of HG's and if you happen to come across a rifle or three, you can fit them in there too :D

After you get the safe, you will have to buy more guns to fill it up, so a big safe is good IMO :D

biggest one you can

Once you get your safe you will find other things to put in it so the biggest you can afford and have space for

Find a safe that will also hold your cameras, important documents, jewelry/watches, rare and collectible items, etc - anything you would not want to loose to theft or fire. I'm not sure what a gun rug is, but recommend you don't store your firearms in any type of case that can collect or store moisture. There are many different styles of racks for gun safes that work very well at keeping your firearms away from direct contact with cloth safe linings.

Whichever safe you choose, bolt it to the floor.

safe size

......there's some universal law; or even several, regarding gunsafes. Whatever size you buy, you'll fill it up. I will eventually be too small!

It is easier to get a bigger safe now, than to get a small one and then another one, and another one, and another one...........:D

As mentioned, figure placing valuables as well as guns, don't forget long guns, cameras, etc.......and ammunition

Also, if you live in an area with a lot of humidity, remember to get either a golden rod, or several desiccant packages

I have a fairly small rifle safe and I put my handguns on top on the shelf. I got a smaller one because I use it as my limit-er. When it's full, I have to sell something when I buy another. Otherwise, I'd have too many accumulated.

Thats the wrong attitude Woad??

Shame on you! ;)

You should buy the biggest safe you can, then fill it up, then buy another safe.... sorry, thems the rules :D

Big is better

If they can carry out my Champion collectors series with its contents my Glock may not be able to stop them .....retired as a police officer and now spend the IDLE time Cowboy Shooting (SASS)..its peace of mind to have your weapons locked and safe. Front door is always open..theres nothing in the house of value thats not in the safe....Big is better:)

You don't understand the depth of my illness. I need all the help I can get. I naturally tend to overindulge to the point where other things suffer. It took jaundice to get me to stop drinking (7 years!) With some things, I need to be on guard. Guns fall into that category. Really.

Gun safes are so easy to fill up with just stuff, not necessarily all guns but ya know just stuff. If you just want a handgun one you should be able to get a nice one for cheaper than a full size one.

I just bought a 24 gun safe. The number they tell you, i.e. 24 is long guns.

I don't own that many long guns, so they are one one half of the safe, and the other half is handguns, ammo, holsters, paperwork, passports, etc.

I wish I had bought a bigger one, as it's about full and I only have 7 guns in there.

I'm going to build a few more shelves to go up higher for the paperwork, but I'd suggest buying one at least twice the size you think you'll ever need.
