Recently found a "Sable Baby" in a lady's attic, but unable to find anything on it, and need help.. It's made in Belgium, Blue frame and barrel, folding trigger, has a exposed hammer, appears to be white ivory style grips,(not sure if it's real) in 22 short..it is increditably clean, and blueing except for one spot by the trigger is as new.

Any info on this weapon would be greatly appreciated...Thanks for looking....Paul

Maker unknown, These were made by the boat load for sale in Europe ond the U.S. in the years 1900 to 1930. I have read that some ships entire manifests was nothing but Belgium guns. Neat looking and cute, but not high value. At the time these were made, Belgium had a very large and active cottage industry. Some Belgium guns were as finely made as any in the world, however many of the guns from the smaller shops were actually made as a co-operative operation. An agent would issue a contract for so many of such and such gun. Because the small shops were unable to produce guns in that quantity they worked as a unit. One shop would make only barrels, another the frames, another the grips and yet another would assemble them. This is why so many Belgium revolvers have no known maker, because no one shop produced them. Is this the case of the Sable? don't know for a fact, but it is listed as "maker unknown". In the condition you described it may be worth 100$ to 200$ to a collector of such items. The trouble would be finding someone who wanted it that badly.
