SAA vs New Frontier

Anyone have experience with the New Frontier vs SAA? Other than the adjustable sights on the NF are there any qualitative differences between the two?

Thanks Mike

Well, now. You've asked a rather prejudiced man! I for one prefer the New Frontier over the SAA any day!

Here are mine, two .45 and two .44 Specials. The second .45 from left is now a 5 1/2" specimen.

What's not to like?

I don't really see that the OP's question has been answered. What are the differences between the SAA and the NF other than the NF sights and the enlarged top strap to support the rear sight?

Nice revolvers there…but as the last poster said, I was really asking if there were any design, mechanical, quality differences… other than the sights… between a new NF and a SAA.

My godson's dad and I are researching a 21st birthday present.

I apologize for not answering the original question.

The answer is "No." And "Yes, I have had experience with the Colt New Frontier."

The difference is in shootability.

And James K asked:

The hammer is cut lower in order to clear the rear sight.

While they shoot very well (as do the standard SAA's) the NF's were not really made as target pistols like the old Bisley was. They were made primarily to compete with the Ruger SA revolvers which had adjustable sights, a big selling point. The trouble was that the Rugers had no "tradition" to compete against; the New Frontier was not very successful because it just didn't look like a Colt SAA.
