SA rear sight notch?

I'm changing out my rear sight on my SS SA .45 which is currently a SA stock adjustable, for a Burris Fast Fire. The base kit I purchased for the fast fire is marked Bomar/Novak which appears to be too big for the notch in the slide.
Can anyone tell me what kind of the notch is in the slide for the rear sight?
Thanks,

rear sight

Sir:
On an SA Colt clone I wouldn't try to cut the Novak lo-mount dovetail or the Bo-Mar cut - it'll weaken the top strap - the Noval lo-mount will almost sever it.
The Noval dovetail and front are 65 degrees.
the dovetail on the lo-mount is .125 deep - the front is .060 or .075 deep.
Does your SA have dovetail sight cuts on it now?

Rear Notch

Yes I now have the stock SA adjustable sight mounted in a stock SA slide that I thought was a bomar/novak notch but the base that came with the burris sight (which is marked the same) is too wide.

Harry,

I believe he used SA to mean Springfield Armory rather than the more common use to mean Single Action. A sticky list of common abbreviations could help, I suppose, but don't expect most people would bother to check it.

Don't feel bad, Harry; I got down to where he said "slide" before I figured out that he didn't mean a single action revolver.

SA (Springfield Armory) rear sight notch

Yea, sorry 'bout that SA.
I did figure out that the notch is a LPA by calling Springfield Armory. They were very helpful.
I would also highly recommend OPTICSPLANET.COM, where I purchased the Burris Fast Fire, for their exceptional service .
The Burris sight did not offer a LPA base and they recommended the Docter base which was interchangable with the Burris.
Oh, and the Burris Fast Fire HUD sight is outstanding. I shoot bullseye and it has already helped me pickup 15-20 points in a 30 rd string over the stock open sights.
Thanks to all for your replies.

I'm intrigued about mounting a dot sight directly on a 1911 slide. Slamming back and forth is not a good environment for any electronic device. Please report back. I'd like to know if the sight survives more than 20 rounds? Also, does the extra weight of the sight prevent the slide from cycling?

Dot sights will survive being mounted directly to the slide, they have for years.
Bullseye shooters have been using slide mounted dot sights for many years.
I''ve built several raceguns with slide mounted Doctor dot sights, they seem to be doing well.

Here's a picture of one of the Doctor sighted raceguns I've built. If memory serves me correctly this gun should be four years old. The gentleman that owns this gun plays the gun games with loads making major power factor.

That's great info. Thanks, I learned something new. Do you run buffers on the guide rod to cushion slide impact during recoil?
