SA loaded sight problem

Picked up a PX9151 last month and I am having trouble seeing the front sight on the range (Indoor) I need your advise. I was thinking about getting an EGW Fiber optic front sight (Brownells catalog 52 page 252)is this a good sight and would I have to modify anything? Could I put it on myself? (limited gunsmithing) What size do I need. I have a set of Meprolight on my off-duty and love them, but I don't really want to drop a 100 bucks on them, after spending 650 already. Has anyone every used white-out to highlight your front sight? Thanks in advance you guys are great

bushmaster225:
I used to have an SA "Loaded" and if I remember correctly their front sight is staked in. The online Brownells catalog showed the EGW Fiber optic front to be a dovetail type. This requires a gunsmith to cut a front dovetail in the slide, usually a $40 job. I and other friends who had or still own Springfields usually paint the front sight with red, or orange or green fluorescent sight paint. They sell those at most gunshops, $2-$3 for a vial that will probably paint 1000 sights. This is the cheapest way while not as efficient as a fiber optic. Hope this is useful. Regards.

Staked? No, I think its glued. LOL.
I have this same problem.
The front sight does Blend in real well doesnt it?

I'm going to have a gunsmith grind in a dovetail slot and install a set of Ashley Express (Small Dot) sights. This is a rather spendy fix... but it solves a lot more that just that blend.
I put the Ashleys on my TRP and the difference from the normal tritium sight - and the Ashley Express was nothing less than AMAZING. So the difference between NO DOT to the Ashley DOT is like the differnce between the US Space Program and Jamaca's Space Program!
If you can, go to a shop and take a look at the Ashleys.

Cheap Fix? Try a Red Magic Marker.
That will put enough contrast on the sight to improve the sight picture.
