Senator Allen introduced S4057 to repeal the NPS ban on loaded self defense guns today in the US Senate. VCDL still has an active petition to amend this rule at the Department of the Interior so it is critically important to muster support for this bill!

Please take a couple of minutes to contact your congressional delegation. Ask your senators to COSPONSOR S4057, and ask your Representative to contact DOI's Secretary Kempthorne and tell him to publish VCDL's petition to restore the right of self defense to citizens and off duty law enforcement!

You can go here for a link to contact info, tips, etc...

Thanks!

Urgent legislative alert

Urgent! We need to roll up our sleeves and hit this hard!

Senator George Allen, keeping his word to gun owners, has introduced
S 4057, the National Park Second Amendment Restoration and Personal
Protection Act of 2006, which will allow gun owners to carry in a
National Park as long as the state where the National Park is located
allows carry in parks!

Senator Allen needs to get the bill a Floor vote in the Senate and
get it off to the House for passage that must happen before the end
of the current session of Congress.

We need to do the following things ASAP to help Senator Allen MAKE
THIS HAPPEN!:

1. Contact Senator Majority Leader, Bill Frist, and ask him to fast
track S 4057!

Phone: 202-224-3344
Fax: 202-228-1264

Email web page:

2. We need Senators from other states to support this bill
and quickly!

Here is the web page that lists all Senators and their contact
information:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

Please contact both of your Senators and Bill Frist.

LET'S ROLL!

Smurfslayer, I hate to break the news to you, but without an actual law in place, (Former Idaho Governor) Dirk Kempthorne will do nothing of the sort. As Governor, he had enough political savvy not to mess with Idaho's gun laws. But...

Ol' Dirk doesn't like firearms. He was and is a RINO. :barf:

I'm forwarding this information from the Virginia Citizens Defense League's VA-ALERT email system. Please do what you can to promote gun owner's rights in our nation's National Parks.

Thanks,

*** Urgent! We need to roll up our sleeves and hit this hard! ***

Senator George Allen (R) of Virginia, in keeping his word to gun owners, has introduced S 4057, the National Park Second Amendment Restoration and Personal Protection Act of 2006, which will allow gun owners to carry in a National Park as long as the state where the National Park is located allows carry in parks!

Senator Allen needs to get the bill to a Floor vote in the Senate and get it off to the House for passage. That must happen before the end of the current session of Congress!

We need to do the following things ASAP to help Senator Allen MAKE THIS HAPPEN!:

1. It is urgent to contact Senator Allen and thank him for introducing S 4057 and to encourage him to use any means necessary to get a vote on that bill as soon as possible.

You can send your emails to Paul Unger, Senator Allen's Legislative Director and he will forward them to the Senator. Here is Paul's email address:
Paul_Unger@allen.senate.gov

Suggested email:

Dear Senator Allen,

Thank you for introducing S 4057, which would allow gun owners to carry in National Parks!

I now ask that you please complete your promise to gun owners by working aggressively, using any means necessary, to get S 4057 a Floor vote as soon as possible!

We need to see this important bill signed into law!

Please let me know what you are going to do and how I can help.

Sincerely,

2. Contact U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist, and ask him to fast-track bill S 4057!

Senator Bill Frist's email web page:

3. Contact your state's U.S. senators and ask them to push to get bill S 4057 to the Floor and vote to pass it.

Here is a web page that lists all of the state's U.S. Senators and their contact information:
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

4. Senator Allen's bill has now been read twice and is in the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, headed up by Senator Pete Domenici from New Mexico!

We need to contact Senator Domenici and urge him to get the bill to a vote as soon as possible:

Senator Domenici's web email address is:
http://domenici.senate.gov/contact/contact.cfm

Suggested copy-and-paste message:

Please bring up Senator Allen's bill, S 4057, for a vote as soon as possible in the Energy and Natural Resources Committee!

This important bill would allow law-abiding citizens to be able to defend themselves while in a National Park. It is critical that S 4057 clear the committee and be brought to the Floor for a vote quickly!

I very much appreciate your help in this matter.

Sincerely,

5. Spread this email on other gun-related web sites and email lists so we can get the word out to gun owners across the nation! Send it to family, friends, and coworkers.

We need the U.S. Senators from all states to support this bill and quickly.
You should contact Senator Allen, both of your state's U.S. Senators, Senator Dominici, and U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist right away.

National Parks

Sent emails to both of my Tenn. Senators, Pete Domenici, and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resourses.

If we don't get this now, we may never get another chance after January.

I wrote Frist when I first heard about this bill. The response was sometihng like this: "Thanks for your letter..... I'm really busy cleaning out my stuff and other things to get ready to leave, so I apologize that I cannot personally respond to your email. Thanks for letting me serve TN"

That's about all I got from Frist, my senator.
