S&W Yoke to Frame Gap

I have an older 17 with a “Weak” lock up at the front end. Just cocking and dry firing the gun seems like the yoke is locked up solid and true. If I push or pull side to side, it has about a 0.01” gap yoke to frame. When I take the cylinder off the crane, there seems like there is some looseness.

Is a Yoke bearing shim going to fix this?

It seems like tightness of fit between crane and frame is what reduces that “wobble”....am I missing something?
 
My S&W Model 60 has no gap, I can barely see the line where the crane meets the frame. Very tight indeed. There is a slight amount of play on the cylinder.
 
The four S&W revolvers I'm looking at , models: 58, 64, 637 and 317 , none of them have any gap when pushing on the cylinders...there is no looseness.
I would have it fixed by S&W or a local gunsmith , for them it would be simple....for me I would ruin a good revolver because I don't have the parts, tools or knowledge .
