S&W - What if.....

OK, let me start out by saying, if this is in the wrong place, OR moderators feel this subject to be too 'inflamitory', PLEASE either move this to the correct place OR delete this thread. Having said that.

Lets say that two things happen. Bush gets elected and ACTUALLY SUPPORTS gun owners AND the S&W boycott worked. Thompson finally decides that it's lost enough money and is ready to close (not sell) S&W. Like Harley-Davidson, a small core group of upper management within S&W decides they know what's wrong and feel they can fix it. The first thing they do, once they have finished the 'legal mumbo-jumbo' with Thompsons, is they hold a press conference where they announce the following:

"S&W has now been returned to American ownership! The first order of business is to disavow the contract signed by previous owners of S&W and the government agencies. Secondly, we would like to apologize to all of our previous customers for the way you have been treated. We will strive to become the preeminent handgun manufacturer that you have known in the past. We will strive in the coming months and years to bring the quality of our products back up to where you were used to seeing it. Thank you. God bless."

IF (and it's a big if) that happened, could you, would you consider supporting S&W again?
I think I would. How about you?

We discussed this at work today in light of recent moves in S&W management and rumors of the pact with the Devil starting to unravel.

We agreed that even the current management could get forgiveness by...

1) Telling the government where they can stick the agreement - publicly - and telling the court to go ahead with any legal action they so choose.

2) A public apology to the American gunowner, the firearms industry and the NSSF - and a pledge of support in the future.

3) A pledge to order their dealers and wholesalers to refuse to sell any S&W product to any state or local government who is, or has been, party to any lawsuit against any gun manufacturer to extort money in the name of gun crime costs.

We believe this would put them in line for financial and legal support from the industry and the NSSF. We also believe they would be hard pressed to keep up with the immediate and sustained demand for their products for the forseeable future, even if prices were raised some small amount to help pay the cost of litigation.

What do you guys and gals think?

Aint gonna happen. Concerning ourselves with realities is time consuming enough.

Wallew-
Initially you say that *&* closes only. Then you announce a new, "American ownership"?
How does this happen?
What happened at H-D was a group of senior people pledged and floated a new co. loan to make the acquisition. Oversimplified; but you get the idea.
COULD this happen? Certainly.
WILL this happen? May be in the works already. :)
Would they succeed? Beyond their wildest dreams.
But it takes a willing seller. Which they don't have; just yet. Might never.
What if current owners renounce their "Devil Deal" on their own? Could they save it then?
I believe this a more probable scenario; especially after a favorable election. Won't be too anxious to "walk away" at that point.
Unfavorable election?
They couldn't get away fast enough.
This is still big money; and you know how that is.
