S&W Trigger Question

I have a 629-1. Single action trigger pull is great. Double action trigger pull is very heavy. Can the double action trigger pull be lightened without adversely effecting the single action? If so, is this something that needs the services of a gunsmith? Thanks

I'll give it a try. Not knowing how comfortable you are with taking the weapon apart will be for you to say what can and cannot be done.

Thing's to check.

Any rub mark's on the side of the hammer, left or right side.
Any burr's on the inside of the frame that rub's against part's.

Simple fix would be to change the rebound spring with one from Wolff, but before you do make sure the frame is smooth where the rebound bar slides and also inside the rebound bar where the spring resides.

Likely not, at least not without work on the single action, as well.

For some reason, a really heavy double-action trigger pull often comes with an excellent single-action trigger.

Messing with spring weights often causes mush in the single action to become more apparent.
