S&W SW99 and Walther P-99 magazines

Will the 9mm Walther hi-caps fit .40cal rounds and function reliably?I'm just curious because I have seen the 16rd hi-caps cheaper than the .40cal hi-caps and wondered if they'd hold 12rds of .40.

No. The feed lips can be bent out to allow the .40 S&W round to be loaded, but in most cases this weakens the lips and causes problems.
 
I just talked to a tech. at S&W last week and asked them this very question, and I was told, do not interchange any parts to include the mags. ;)
 
I have Two S&W99 mags that function fine in my p99. In fact the springs are stronger, but may be because there new and for $15.00 a peice I couldn't pass them up.:p
