S&W repair?

got ammo?

I don't know if this question has been asked before, But how long does Smith & Wesson take to repair a pistol? I bought a new-in-box S&W 22-A target pistol last fall, at a gunshow. After firing a few mags through it, I noticed a sudden decline in accuracy (couldn't put a round in a TV box @ 20 yards) I noticed a burr in the barrel, forming along the rifling, and called S&W, They sent me a shipping label and instructions to Fedex it to the Houlton, Maine factory. I sent it on 1/27/14, and nothing yet. I called S&W last week, and they said it could "take another week or so". I am just wondering if any of you fellas have sent a firearm to S&W for repair and how long did it take for a return? And have any of you experienced burrs in your barrel with a S&W 22-A target pistol?

While I cannot speak to your particular model, in general the time that S&W takes to return a gun for repair seems to depend on the time of year that it's sent to them and current demands on their manufacturing. S&W shuts their factory down for retooling and equipment maintenance/repair at certain times of the year so a gun sent to them during such a time would likely take longer to return than one sent during their normal production time. Likewise, when demand for firearms is high (such as during the great panic buying of 2008/2009 and 2012/2013) that will place extra strain on their manufacturing capability and thus would also likely increase the time a customer who sends a gun in for repair will have to wait.
