Just bought my S&W 686 brand new. At closer inspection found that the notch blade on rear sight wiggles around. Is this normal? How do I tighten it up. Do I have to sent it in for warranty repair? I haven't even fired the weapon yet. Man I'm pissed! Please help.
It's normal for there to be a little wiggle front and back (toward the barrel), with very little side to side. The sight blade sits on a threaded rod, which is how you change the windage. That's why it wiggles front to back.
Thanks. It seems it has a little more wiggle than expected. It does wiggle both ways; however, the side to side movement appears to be too much. At least for my taste. Any way to tighten it down?
I would take it back to where you got it if possible. The way the sight is put together you can't take it apart. I had to replace the blade on one of mine and the directions say turn windage sight screw untill it breaks. Yep!you have to chear the small screw in two.An you don't have the proper tool you don't get it back together right.
