S&w Rear Sight Install

I just installed a new rear sight with a white outline on my 686-5.
Now there is no "click". The screw turns freely. What did I do wrong ?

You have to install the tiny nut on the end of the windage screw, and stake it in place.
Support the other side of the windage screw, and stake the nut with a rounded- off center punch.

Idid that. It is just that when the adjustment screw is turned, it turns very freely. No click. I am afraid that the sight will move when firing.

Mr. G, there is a little plunger and spring that go into the head of the screw and that is what "clicks" as it comes around to the sight blade groove. Sounds like yours is missing these 2 parts. George

There is no plunger or spring in the original, or with the replacement. Called S&W, and ordered them. Must of forgot them when it was made.
