S&W Mountain Gun Questions

Been looking to buy a Mountain Gun for a while now.Want to get back into shooting with some of the fun contests like bowliing pin and other rapid fire shooting, but with a wheel gun.

Mulling over between .45LC and .44 Mag etc. as I saved up the $ for it.

There is a Factory show in my area this weekend. They say the prices if you buy then will be great.

S&W has a model 25-13 Mountain Gun available in .45LC this year.
I see there was a model 625-? in .45LC. (some pop up for sale from time to time)

What is the difference between the two gun models? I know the M25 is blued and the 625 is Stainless Steel. Is that the only difference?

Thanks!

For all practical purposes, yes.

If you want to get into rapid fire shooting games, a lightweight Mountain Gun may not be your best choice. Something with a bit more weight out front would help keep your splits down.

Thanks for the heads up on the splits Tamara!

Would the 629 standard series in a 4" make that much of a difference?
What barrel length would you recommend?

My other use would be as a carry gun for my friends ranch out in Nevada when I visit. The primary use is to scare off Coyotes and protect against snakes. Did not want to put too much extra weight on it.

My other option would to pick a shorty for the ranch use. I did have a Taurus 450 in 45LC and it worked well for that purpose.
