Sorry, but I am new to handguns. I am trying to understand the difference between Square and Round but guns. Can someone tell me if the model 65-5 is square but or round? What about model 625-5? Square or round but? Also, can anyone tell me why smith and wesson made pistols in these two configurations? Is there any advantage or benefit to one type or another? Is there any inherent difference in value between the two? Is one form deemed to be more comfortable or esthetically pleasing? Thank-You!

Round butt is more for concealed carry the round butt won't hang up on anything when you whip it out  .Where the square butt is more for just target shooting the grip being bigger you can get a better hold .A lot of my guns are round butt but I buy new grips that you can convert them to Square. My 625 in.45 is the only round butt I have left alone.I found the grip is more than comfortable to shoot or extended periods.Myself I have a large hand and the smaller round butts I just can't get a good hold onto.
