S&W Model 66

I just picked up a S&W Model 66 (no dash). The weapon is near factory condition and I think it is a first-run (S/N 2K64XXX). It has both front and rear stainless steel sights, trigger stop, S&W emblem on the right, etc. The only thing that confuses me about the weapon is that is has the gas ring attached to the cylinder, not the yoke. I have seen info on-line that suggest the "newer" gas ring was not added to the 66 cylinder until the 66-1. Also, the second and subsequent runs did not have SS rear sight, it was carbon steel. The weapon does not appear to have an after market yoke/cylinder; the fit and finish is perfect. Wondering if anyone out there can shed some light on this for me: did S&W produce the 66 with SS sights AND the gas ring attached to the cylinder or has the cylinder/yoke been replaced??? Thanks in advance....
