Fabulous gun! Helped by low-production (chicken or egg!?), one of the best kept secrets and most under-appreciated firearms of the past twenty years. Have had mine ten or so years. Best of the Smith (or just about any) bunch IMO. As you may know, it is unique among the K's in being the only way to get the combination of 3" with full lug/shroud in a fixed sight...topped off with an also unique-to-the LS (IIRC) non glare satin finish. Yes, they are subject as all K's are to the "no consistent 125 grain .357s" caveat, that the L frames are not. The tradeoff is size and weight, a fair one I think. It's the "one" gun I will not part with.
Btw, took me about five seconds of handling to get over the light "Lady Smith" script on the frame. A non- issue to me. Such an irony (or something) that Smith saved it's very best for a low production item aimed at a small (at the time) lady-shooter market.
Not mine (which wears Pachs), this is the way many LS's came new.
I forget which dash numbers "-_" had what features, but mine is a pre lock (as most if not all were) and hammer-mounted firing pin (most IIRC). The above photo is identical visually (and box) to one my gf got, and it's a transfer bar gun.
Nice find, Snub357. I've been on the look-out for one for some time now-ever since I gifted my old duty Model 65 to my oldest daughter. And before that, I foolishly sold a Model 13 (a blued Model 65 or vice-versa) with a 3" barrel that had one of the nicest da pulls on any revolver I've ever shot.
