how does this handgun perform?

i have a .40 semiauto, but i'm thinking of switching to a compact .38 special. i love the feel of a classic revolver.

thanks

I hated mine. I traded it off for a S&W M10-11 2" 38 Special with round butt. My 637 had many issues. Timing, peeling like an arange of the sprayed on finish, corrosion of MIM parts and a lack of confidence from me. The use of +P 115 gr 38 Specials was no experience I want to repeat either, too light. The trigger on mine had far too much play or slack in take-up from day one NIB. My gunsmith would not touch it as it was a Airweight frame with MIM.

I like mine so much I bought a second one to use as a "always in the truck" backup gun, evenflow. Indeed, I carry my 637 more often than any other handgun I own. For whatever reason, I seem to be able to shoot well with them despite the short sight radius, even with +P ammo. I've never found anything of an adequate caliber that is as easy to conceal or as comfortable to carry as the 637 Airweight.

I like mine as well - no problems with it in hundreds of rounds and many days of ankle carry in some really crappy weather.

My 637 is excellent. Many posts have shown that the clear coat finish doesn't hold up well to strong cleaners, but is just fine with Hoppe's and CLP. Is the 60 easier to shoot? Sure- but it weighs 50% more, which weighs my pocket way down! No timing issues, no corrosion- 637 for me.

Nice gun but I preffer something a little more snag free for pocket /IWB carry. Those new MIM hammers protrude like a fish hook and don't bob as cleanly. Preffer the mod 38/638, 642 and 637 in that order, myself. All equal shooters. No durability issues with mine.
