S&W Model 49

If someone can help me find the manufacture date of a S&W Model 49 the serial # is 4966xx. I would appreciate it

Assuming it has a "J" preceeding that number, I'd say it's a 1976 model.

Their is no letter J on it at all.

Then it's probably a '65-'67 vintage as close as I can tell.

I did try the S&W forum ... I am waiting for APPROVAL. I posted this request on several different forums and all of them gave me the response as RUT did. So I am satisfied with the answer.
