I have been looking for a new .22 for plinking cause my high standard that was my uncles wore out. I had my heart set on the ruger but there was a used s&w 422 for only a hundred and fifty bucks so I got it instead. It looks like it's never been fired! It's the 5.5 inch barrel with a 15 round clip. It also has adjustable sights! My question is what can I expect as far as durability? I searched the archives and didn't find anything on this particular model but someone said their s&W showed wear right away. I am concerned about parts availiblity for obvious reasons.

I have had the same pistol for 14 years now and lost count how many rounds have been shot with it (over 30,000 rounds) and it still looks new and shoot like new. I have to admit it is difficult to shoot tiny groups with it due to their light weight. This pistol taught my sister, wife and several friends to properly handle pistols. I love mine.

I just realized, I think although the mag can hold more I should not put more than 10 rounds in so as not to compress the spring.
I'm glad you like yours. I haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet, maybe this weekend.

Dont wory about compressing the spring. That is what they are made for. The only time you need worry about weakening it is if you were to keep it loaded all the time. Besides, Wolff Gunsprings sells new springs for .22 semiauto magazines should it ever wear out which is unlikely.

Good shooting.
