S&W Model 36, How Old?

Greeting's All:

I came across a Smith & Wesson square butt Chief's Special
(model 36) tonight with serial number 270885; with no alphabet prefix. This weapon is in rough shape, but I would
like to know the approximate date of manufacture?

The serial number records in "The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" are kind of sketchy, but doing a little extrapolation I'd say 1961-1962 time frame.
