I think it's round with a square butt adapter grip.

My 625 has a round butt, had to take the grips off to find out.
Don't know about the 25.

625 MGs in .45 Colt & .45 ACP were round.

I think all the "Mountain Guns" were round butt. In fact, about all Smith revolver production went round butt after a certain point....somebody will know for sure.
