this is the best site ever!thanks in advance
I've got this aunt who has an s&w mod 19-6 from my late uncle, she knows nothing about it other than what i've listed, she says it looks brand new. what is it exactly and any guess to its value? She would probably just give it to me but i cant do that, she needs the $

The 19-6 was made between 1988 and 1994.

One as new in box, but still considered to be a "used" gun due to its being previously owned, would probably fetch between $300 and $375 here in Northern Virginia.

If you were lucky you could get it at slightly under that.

thanks Mike, just talked to a local shop here in WI and they said probably between 200-225$. Iknow its hard to say without seeing it but any info is helpful. Any thoughts as to how accurate something like this would be at 50'? figure on some decent ammo, some kind of jhp, s&b?

With ammo that was not particulary compatable with that particular gun, accuracy should be excellent.

With ammo that got along well with the gun it should group under an inch at 50'

Forgot; What is the bbl length?

Sam...the 19 may well be the ultimate K frame.

barrel is 2 or 2.5" I would be impressed if
it could hold 2-3" groupings at 50'with that short of a barrel

Held by hand, probably not, but from a machine rest, don't sell the short-barreled guns short.

They often display better overall accuracy than their longer-barreled cousins.

Odd but true.

During the "make life safer for muggers" period of the mid-70s when the political liars' bugaboo was the evilwickedmeanandnasty "Saturday night special," my Pop bought a used S&W K-frame snubbie .38 special with adjustable sights.

He put up a standard American 25-yard target at 25 yards while my buddy and I watched.

He then proceeded to shoot five shots into the 10-ring (3 inches or so) and threw one into the nine-ring. One-handed.

My buddy said something about small handguns being accurate after all. :-)

You can expect superb accuracy out of that revolver.

thanks a million you've been very helpful
and the only way I would even buy this Smith&Wesson is because it's used. I bought a mod 629 about 18 monthes ago and it is fantastic, a little pricey to shoot but I really enjoy it. Just put a Leupold Gilmore
red dot scope on it and am planning on trying my luck deer hunting this yr.
Can't wait to shoot the snubbie!
