S&W Model 19-3 questions?

Saw one tonight - a 19-3. Had the pinned barrel and the recessed chambers. Was a 4" with the wide target hammer and trigger. Looked good - cylinder tight - even bluing. The grips were the finger groove wood grips with S&W logos - maybe added later? Also a plain black sight blade and black serrated front sight.

My questions:

1-What years were the 19-3 series produced?

2- What would it be worth? Very good condition - not sure if the box/paperwork is still with the gun.

Thanks!

1967 to 1977.

The heart of the Bangor Punta years. Inspect carefully. Some of them aren't well done.

Value? Here in Northern Virginia I'd say anywhere from $250 to $400, depending on condition and seller.

I paid $250 for mine. Friend carried it with the police for 25 years. Since I bought it from him,I have put thousands of rounds through it. Sent it back to Smith for a tuneup two years ago. This is one of my all time favorite handguns.

I have a 19-3 that was a police trade-in. The exterior finish is in poor condition, but the internals were like new. It is one sweet gun!
