S&W Model 10 with Ahrends Grips

Hi everybody, just wanted to share this. This is my Smith and Wesson Model 10-10, made in March 1992. Heavy barrel, .38 special. This gun was a police trade in from Buds, got it for $269 plus a $25 FFL transfer fee, so just a hair under $300. The bluing was not that great, most of it was gone off the barrel and the front of the cylinder. I put some cold blue on it, which cleaned it up pretty good. The standard grips that came with it were in terrible shape. They were chipped and very, very worn. But mechanically, the gun is like new. I got some Ahrends retro combat grips in tung oil finished cocobolo. They are very nice and fill my hand great. Here's a couple pictures, they're from my cell phone and they really don't do the grips a justice.

I bought a S&W Model 10 like that from J&G Sales. Had a Parkerized finish put on it. It had a lot of holster wear on the Blue. Other than that it was in excellent shape.
 
Congratulations. Nice ex-Victoria Police (Australia) Model 10 you've got. Nice grips, too. I love the 10's myself. In fact, my favorite and most accurate revolver is my 10-8 (1986)....3" heavy barrel, police trade-in (though I did not get it from Bud's and it did not come from Australia). Freaky accurate. I've got Ahrends "Retro Bananas" in Moradillo, on mine.
 
How can a obsolete, used, M10, chambered in an obsolete caliber like .38 Special, be any good?

Ha Ha. It is hard to beat a K-Frame S&W. One of my favorites is an 1977, California Department of Corrections marked, 4 inch Model 64. No one wanted it because it was only a .38 special. $115 bucks out the dealer's door, circa 1993.
 
Those grips look good on your revolver.

I have several Model 10/64 revolvers and think they're exceptionally well balanced handguns that are easy to shoot well.

Thanks for the compliments guys! The next revolver on my list is a Smith and wesson model 64, so I'll have the blue M10 and the stainless version, the M64. I plan to get matching grips and have a nice case made for the pair.
 
No high capacity magazine. No night sights. No rail. No flashlight, MP3 player, or cigar lighter. You call that thing a GUN?

So do I. Good choice.
 
S&W 10-5

I finally replaced my S&W 10-5 that i sold in my misspend youth .....they cost quit a bit more these days ....but im glad to have one back and found a vintage leather Hunter holster for it ....they just dont make this quality of guns anymore
