S&W Model 10-5 price check...

Hi all,
I found this revolver today. It looks nearly new, has the "flat" blue
box, original manual, and paper wrap. They want $275 for it and I was tempted (been looking around off & on for a few years after shooting a friend's). Literally no end shake/play and a very small amount of "rotational" (?) play. There is no wear-ring around the cylinder either. The only wear appears to be a small amount at the rear of the frame where the cylinder makes contact while closing. The bore and chambers look new.
Thanks,
Bob (who needs another handgun ;-)

Well, prices vary wildly from area to area in the country, but I'd be willing to pay that for one in the condition you describe.

I'm in Northern Virginia, so your prices may vary.

I would have to agree with Mike. The price may be a little on the high side, but not enough to keep me from buying it...especially if it had a 5" barrel.

I know that there are some "police marked" 10-5's with 5" barrels out there (Detroit being one), but they can be hard to come by.

Frenchy: "The price may be a little on the high side, but not enough to keep me from buying it...especially if it had a 5" barrel."

This is exactly what I thought upon reading Rmf33's post. I'm going to miss the other great thinkers around here!

Any idea what other forces might have used these?

I'm only familiar with a couple that I've actually seen, Mike. The Detroit Police and the RCMP (got the holster, but no gun)! :)
I've heard some were mixed in with the US military orders, but have never seen one.
