I'm going to risk the troll's and ask a kinda obvious question, but I don't know the answer so....

Can a S & W 10-10, S#BRH0011 .38 handle +P ammo?

Also anyone know the age of this gun? My guess is early 70's.

Thanks

It can definitely handle +P. I don't have a date range but I'm pretty sure the 10-10 dates past the 70s.

I don't shoot any +P ammo in my pre-model 10 (M&P), but it's from the late 20s or early 30s. I also probably wouldn't use them in one simply marked "Model 10". But if it's a "ten dash something", it's safe.

The 10-10 was made from 1988 until 1997, so you'll be fine with +P loads.

Thanks

Thank you all for the info!

I knew I could count on you guys to help.

Any suggestions on where to get after market wood grips?

Grips

Factory K-frame grips can be purchased through the S&W website. Other brands are all over the web.

Please forgive, but...

I'm fairly new to revolvers. So the Model 10 (mine is a 10-10) is a K frame?

I'm assuming that it is from your post.

Thanks for the patience with me.

Your 10-10 is okay to shoot +P 38 specials. In fact any model 10 from 1957 is safe to shoot +P rounds. The current S&W revolver manual that is available on line S&W stated that any 38 special that has a model number is safe to shoot +Ps.

Howard

For future reference, just about any six-shot S&W .38 with a model number can be used with +p ammo. There are exceptions with a few of the earlier lightweight guns, but they aren't very common.

Edit: Yeah, what Roaddog said.
