S&W Mod 39-2 - need date

I just bought a 99% S&W 39-2 for a gift to my Dad on Father's Day. The serial number is A1209XX. Can anyone help with the manufacture date?

Thank you, Steven! It helps a lot since I wanted to tell Dad. Now another question, it has a lanyard loop on the butt and a little tiny hole in the spur of the hammer. Is this a normal thing?

Sorry to ask so many questions but I just want some info to go along.

Raider, the hole was normal on the Model 39's.
