S&W Mdl 29 Price Check

Went to buy some ammo from the shop today, and the owner showed me a S&W 29 that he had just taken in on trade. It was a pinned and recessed Model 29 with smoth wood grips, 6 inch barrel, in 98% condition. So of course I now have the "wants / needs"

What is a fair price ?

By the way, I posted several weeks ago concerning a Mdl 19-3. Thanks to all of the responses I received, I am now a very happy owner.

Well, the grips are worth about $75 on ebay.

Assuming it is a 29-2, sellers are asking $500-$650 for these. I see bidders offering around $450 on the auction sites. Not too many sales seem to be occurring. I would have to want one pretty badly to pay over $450 for one. Of course, that's easy for me to say as I already have mine.
 
For nice ones.

Dash 2 and before $500 and up.
Dash 3 (neither pinned nor recessed) easy find em $300 and under.

I paid $325 out the door for my 4" nickel 29-2 at an auction. Around here if you are willing to wait you can come in for under $400. I bought a SS 629 4" in Houston for $400. To me no used N-Frame is worth over $400 unless it is in some rare configuration, like some of the mod 610's, or it is new in a wood box.
 
I recently bought a 29-3, nickel plated, almost perfect condition for $375. I am told that I got a very good deal.
 
I just purchased a nickle M29-3 with 6inch barrel for $300,isnt minty but when I get threw with it it will.
