S&W M625 bullet velocity

What kind of velocity can I expect from a .45ACP M625 with a 5 inch barrel? I assume that it would be higher that a 1911 with a 5" barrel, since it has the extra length of the barrel and the cylinder.

Thanks

I was wondering about the M625 since on www.sixgunner.com there is an article about 9MM's. In the atricle the author tested 9MM fired from the Ruger convertible with the 9MM cylinder, and their velocity almost matched that of .357 Mag bullets of similar weight. The author attributed this to the 4 5/8 inch barrel and the extra length of the cylinder.

I doubt you'll see any real difference. Individual guns will display more significant velocity differences than that of barrel/cylinder gap vs. 5" auto pistol.

The best thing about the 625 was that you could handload the hell out of it. Mine was very fond of 250gr LSWCs at about 950fps. Shot great, and recoil was moderate.
